i kinda really want a quarter pounder with cheese

two food related stories.

(is it just me, or is that wine glass the size of carolyn's head? woah.)

the other night i had the chance to eat monkfish for the first time. (well, maybe. carolyn informed me that restaurants sometimes try to pass off monkfish as sea scallops. but. whatever.)

it was delightful. i felt so grown-up and classy. no more fishsticks for me!

(adorable)
the last time i went to washington d.c. to see jillian, we had dinner at the delightfully swanky zola

the waiter brought us out an amuse bouche. having taken 6.5 years of french and having seen every single episode of top chef ever, i knew exactly what an amuse bouche was. however. being the incredibly poor and deprived girl that i am, i had never actually eaten one before.

it was liver mousse on a small piece of bread.

jillian and i debated for quite awhile on whether or not we should eat it. on the one hand, neither of us have ever been interested in eating a mousse made of liver. it looked and smelled like cat food.

but, i was worried that perhaps this was my one and only opportunity in life to actually eat an amuse bouche. and maybe liver mousse is actually delicious?

it wasn't. it tasted like cat food. on a piece of bread. my bouche was not amused.

my only question is. now that i've had monkfish and an amuse bouche, does this make me a foodie?
