ok, i admit it. i read all the harry potter books. and i enjoyed them. but, please, can we as a society just move on? for the love of god. there are other children's books out there.

i'm very happy for rowling, really i am. she's ridiculously wealthy. she wrote some very popular books. she somehow got kids and adults all over the world to read 600 page novels. i'd give her a nobel peace prize just for that.

but. it's not like harry potter is the most imaginative idea out there. i'm not a children's librarian, so i'm not up to date on all of the hoopla. but i do know this. pitiful orphaned kids that are mistreated by adults? roald dahl rocked it. a world filled with wizards and magic and weird little creatures? jrr tolkien rocked it. cute kids saving the world from evil? oh, yeah, c.s. lewis rocked it.

so yes. let's all stop for a minute and swoon over rowling for one last time. and then move on with our lives. read something else. and remember that there are more important authors to love.
