oh nytimes, just when i was begining to bore of you

you go and create a new series on philosophy.

i was actually just thinking about thales the other day. so this article made me giggle with glee.

(i was daydreaming about the presocratics. and how most of what we know about their ideas is based on fragments. quotations of their works found in other works. allusions found in plays. what would the modern day equivalent be? piecing together someone's worldview based on their fb status updates? i wonder if the souls of the presocratics are around here somewhere, frustrated that out of all their thoughts and theories and ideas. all we have left is just a handful of sentences. i wonder if someone would be able to understand all of my thoughts and feelings and beliefs based on the paper trail i've left behind.)
